A: It draws a voltage against time so you can see wave shape, timing and noise. The HDS200 series does this on two channels at up to 200MHz and 1GSa/s, depending on model.. Q: What is a signal generator used for? A: It injects a known test signal into a circuit so you can follow it through each stage. The built-in generator here outputs sine to 25MHz, square and pulse to 5MHz and ramp to 1MHz.. Q: How do you use an oscilloscope and signal generator together? A: Feed the GEN Out signal into the circuit under test and watch the input and output on CH1 and CH2. Comparing the two traces shows gain, delay and distortion.. Q: How do you use a signal generator on this scope? A: Switch to generator mode, pick the waveform, then set frequency, amplitude and offset with the keys. The output appears on the GEN Out BNC at 50Ω.. Q: What does an oscilloscope measure? A: Voltage over time, from which this scope works out frequency, period, amplitude, max, min, mean and PK-PK. Cursors give voltage and time differences between two points..
