Q: What is an arbitrary waveform generator used for? A: It outputs standard test signals and any custom shape you draw, so you can reproduce real-world signals on the bench. The JDS8060 and JDS8080 hold 99 user waveforms and take new ones from the PC software.. Q: What is the difference between the JDS8060 and JDS8080? A: The JDS8060 runs sine to 60MHz with a rise and fall time of 20ns or less; the JDS8080 runs sine to 80MHz with 10ns or less. Both have 275MSa/s sampling, 14 bit resolution and two channels.. Q: How does the VCO function work? A: VCO mode lets an external voltage signal control the output frequency, amplitude or duty cycle, so the waveform changes as that voltage changes.. Q: Can I control it from my phone or PC? A: Yes. The built-in Bluetooth works with a phone app that can import waveforms, and the USB port works with PC software that can edit and download arbitrary waves. The communication protocol is provided for your own programs.. Q: Can two generators be linked? A: Yes. Two or more units can be connected through the SYNC in and out sockets to output multi-channel signals together..
