The VDS1022 is a two channel USB oscilloscope for a laptop or PC, with 25MHz bandwidth, 100MSa/s sampling, a 5K record length and 5mV/div to 5V/div sensitivity, powered entirely from the USB port. The VDS1022I version adds USB isolation between the oscilloscope and the computer to protect the PC from being damaged by a wrong connection.
Features and Benefits
- 2 channels plus a multi-function BNC - compare two signals and use the third socket for trigger input or output and pass/fail signals.
- 25MHz bandwidth and 100MSa/s sampling - audio, sensor, PWM and low speed digital work on a laptop screen.
- Edge, pulse, video, slope and alternate triggers with auto, normal and single modes - stable traces and one-shot captures.
- Sample, peak detect and average acquisition - pick out narrow spikes or clean up a noisy signal.
- Waveform maths (+, -, x, ÷, invert) and FFT, shown with an X-Y or FFT view on the same screen.
- USB bus powered at 5.0V/1A - no mains adapter, so it travels in a laptop bag.
- VDS1022I USB isolation - the computer stays separated from the circuit under test.
Applications
- Field service and on-site repair with a laptop.
- Education and student benches with limited space.
- Hobby electronics, audio and microcontroller projects.
In the box
1 x PC oscilloscope, 2 x probes, 1 x USB cable, 1 x software CD, 1 x manual, 1 x adjustment tool, 2 x tip locating sleeves, 8 x colour rings, 2 x ground springs. The BAG options add a soft carry case.
Note: Maximum input is 40V peak to peak (DC+AC). Connect the probe ground clip only to the circuit ground reference. The VDS1022I isolates the power between the computer and the oscilloscope to protect the computer from a wrong connection, so choose it where that risk exists.

Q: What is a USB oscilloscope? A: It is an oscilloscope without its own screen that sends the measurement to a computer over USB. The VDS1022 is powered from the same USB lead and shows two 25MHz channels in the PC software.. Q: What is the difference between the VDS1022 and VDS1022I? A: The VDS1022I isolates the power between the computer and the oscilloscope, which protects the computer from being damaged by a wrong connection. Bandwidth, sampling and inputs are the same.. Q: How do you use an oscilloscope on a laptop? A: Install the PC software from the CD, connect the scope with the USB cable, then attach a probe to CH1 and its ground clip to circuit ground. Use auto set or adjust the time and volts per division in the software.. Q: What does an oscilloscope measure? A: Voltage over time. With the FFT and X-Y views you can also look at frequency content and the relationship between the two channels.. Q: What can the MULTI socket do? A: It is a TTL level multi-function interface for external trigger input, synchronised input or output, and pass/fail output..
