The A-3511 is a loose tube fibre stripping tool, also called a mid-span access tool, that slits buffer tubes and cable sheaths lengthways from 3.5 to 11mm diameter using six sized grooves and upper and lower alloy blades.
Lay the tube in the groove that matches its size (3.5 to 4, 4 to 4.5, 5.5 to 6, 6.5 to 7, 7.5 to 8 or 10.5 to 11mm), close the body and pull the tube through. The locking mechanism keeps the tool closed through the whole shaving stroke, and the opening it cuts is controlled so the fibres inside are not damaged. Groove sizes are moulded on the outside of the body, the blades are replaceable, and a storage slot inside holds spare blades.
Features and Benefits
- Six grooves from 3.5 to 11mm: one tool for most loose tubes and small drop cable sheaths.
- Longitudinal stripping: opens the tube along its length for mid-span access without cutting the fibres.
- Double alloy blades, upper and lower: a neat slit from both sides in one pass.
- Locking design: holds the tube in the groove so it does not drift off line during the stroke.
- Replaceable blades with a built-in spare blade storage slot.
- Light and pocket sized: 82 x 52 x 30 mm and about 60g.
Applications
- Mid-span access to loose tubes in FTTH and backbone splice closures.
- Opening buffer tubes before fibre splicing or termination.
- Slitting small drop cable sheaths in the 3.5 to 11mm range.
- Fibre training and workshop practice.
In the box
- 1 x A-3511 loose tube stripper on a blister card.
- With the spare blade option: 12 spare blades as well.
Note: Choose the groove that matches the tube diameter before you close the tool; a groove that is too small can cut into the fibres. Handle spare blades with care.

Spare blade option: 12 spare blades. Q: What size of tube does the A-3511 strip? A: It takes tubes and sheaths from 3.5 to 11mm diameter in six grooves: 3.5 to 4, 4 to 4.5, 5.5 to 6, 6.5 to 7, 7.5 to 8 and 10.5 to 11mm.. Q: What is a mid-span access tool used for? A: It slits a loose buffer tube along its length so you can reach the fibres in the middle of a cable run without cutting the cable, for example at a splice closure.. Q: Are the blades replaceable? A: Yes. The upper and lower alloy blades can be changed, and spare blades sit in a storage slot inside the tool.. Q: How big is the A-3511? A: It measures 82 x 52 x 30 mm and weighs about 60g, so it fits in a shirt pocket or a small kit pouch..
