Questions about this product

How does this kit help me find the right cable?
The tone generator sends a signal down a cable, and the probe picks it up so you can trace it through a bundle or wall. The tester unit also checks continuity for breaks and miswires. It saves you guessing which cable is which.
Which cables and connectors does it support?
It handles RJ45 Ethernet and RJ11 phone connectors, and works with Cat5 and Cat6 wiring. So you can test office network runs and residential phone lines with one kit. It checks both straight-through and crossover wiring.
What comes in the kit and do I need batteries?
You get the tester unit, the tone generator, and the probe. The probe is about 200mm long for reaching into bundles. Both powered parts take a 9V battery, and those are not included, so grab two.
