It works with RJ45, RJ11, and CAT5 UTP cables, so it covers common network and phone lines. You can verify both new runs and existing patch cables. It flags open circuits, shorts, and miswires quickly.
What does the POE burn-proof feature actually do?
It protects the tester from damage if a cable is still carrying power over ethernet during a test. Normally that voltage could fry a basic tester. This design lets you check live-fed runs without killing the unit.
Does this come with a battery?
No, the battery isn't included, so you'll need to supply your own before using it. The tester itself is compact and easy to carry for on-site work. Check the unit for the required battery type when it arrives.
