- Which cables and connectors does this tester support?
- It tests RJ11 and RJ45 jacks and works with Cat5 and Cat6 cable. So it covers both Ethernet network runs and telephone lines. It checks continuity along with open, short, and crossed wiring.
- Can it find one cable in a messy bundle?
- Yes. The built-in wire tracer and tone function let you follow a single line through a bundle. Clear signal indication makes the path easy to follow. That's handy for locating a specific telephone or LAN cable in an office.
- What do I get and how is it powered?
- You get a main tester unit and a separate remote unit for the far end of a run. The main unit takes a 9V PP3 battery; the remote is passive. It can test cable lengths up to 100 meters.
