Matching Hydraulic and Pneumatic Fittings to the System

Fittings fail at the interface, so start with thread standard and working pressure. Most equipment in our range uses BSP or NPT threads, and mixing the two strips seals. Check the rated bar or PSI of the circuit and buy fittings rated above the relief valve setting, not at it.

• Confirm thread type and size from the component datasheet before ordering adapters.
• For pneumatics, quick-release couplings save service time on lines opened often.
• Use steel fittings for hydraulic pressure lines; brass suits low-pressure air and water.

Sizing Lifting Equipment With a Real Safety Margin

Winches, hoists and lifting stools are rated by working load limit. Size against the heaviest realistic load plus rigging weight, then step up one rating. A 12V or 24V recovery winch rated 3500 to 4500 lb covers most vehicle and trailer work; powered lifting platforms for tile and plastering trades list both load and lift height.

• Never size a lift at 100 percent of the working load limit; keep at least a 25 percent margin.
• Match winch voltage to the vehicle system that will drive it.
• Check duty cycle: intermittent-rated gear overheats in continuous use.

Automation components pay off when they match the control voltage and signal type you already run. Proximity sensors, limit switches and relays in this department cover common 12V, 24V and mains-switched circuits, and IP67-rated switchgear survives washdown areas.

• Standardize on one control voltage across a machine to simplify spares.
