- Which types of network and phone cables can I test with this device?
- You can test RJ45, RJ11, RJ12, and CAT5 UTP or STP cables. It works on both PVC and LSZH cable jackets. However, it is designed for continuity testing and won't test coaxial cables.
- Does this cable tester come ready to use, or do I need to buy a battery?
- You will need to buy a 9V alkaline battery separately since one is not included in the box. The package contains the main testing unit and the detachable remote unit. This two-piece design lets you test cables that are already installed through walls.
- What is the maximum cable length this tester can handle, and can it find specific faults?
- This tester works on cables up to approximately 100 meters long. It identifies specific wiring faults like open circuits, shorts, and cross-connections. The LED lights show the status of each pin, but it cannot measure the exact distance to a break.
