- Will this tester work with my CAT6 cables or just CAT5?
- This tester is designed for CAT5 UTP LAN cables using RJ45, RJ11, and RJ12 connectors. While it physically fits RJ45 connectors on CAT6 cables, it only runs basic continuity and wiring tests. It won't certify CAT6 speed performance.
- How long of a cable can I test, and what wiring issues does it detect?
- You can test cables up to a maximum length of 100 meters. The LED indicators will help you identify short circuits, open circuits, and crossed wires. However, please note this unit does not support split pair detection.
- Does this cable tester come ready to use out of the box?
- The kit includes the main tester unit and the detachable remote unit. You will need to purchase a 9V PP3 battery separately, as one is not included in the box. Once you pop the battery in, you can start testing.
