- It senses AC voltage near a wire or outlet without touching the conductor. When it detects power, it lights up and beeps so you know the circuit is live. It reads from 12V up to 1000V AC.
- Is this voltage tester rated for safe use?
- Yes. It carries a CAT III 1000V and CAT IV 600V rating, so it's built for use on building wiring and distribution circuits. Always verify it works on a known live source before trusting a dead reading.
- Does it come with batteries?
- No. It needs 2x AAA 1.5V batteries, which are not included, so grab a pair before your first use. A fresh set lasts about 6 hours of continuous use with the flashlight off.
