This portable digital Leeb hardness tester reads the hardness of metal workpieces and shows the result on 7 scales: HL, HB, HRB, HRC, HRA, HV and HS. The measuring range runs from 170 to 960 HLD, and the handheld unit pairs with a D type impact device on a cable, so it can be taken to the part rather than the part to the bench.
Features and benefits:
- 7 hardness scales (HL, HB, HRB, HRC, HRA, HV, HS) - read the same test in the scale your drawing or procedure asks for
- Wide measuring ranges, for example 17 to 68.5 HRC, 19 to 651 HB and 80 to 976 HV - covers a broad spread of metals
- 360° measuring direction - test at any angle, even upside down, which helps on fixed or awkward parts
- Segment LCD with EL backlight - shows the reading, material setting and TIMES counter in one view
- Stores up to 100 groups of data - keep a run of readings without writing each one down
- USB port with PC software - move results to a computer; a software adjustment function is also built in
- Compact plastic case - made for use in poor working conditions
- About 100 hours of continuous running with the backlight off, on 2 AA batteries (not included)
Applications:
- Mould die cavities, bearings and other machined parts
- Heavy workpieces and installed machinery or permanently assembled parts
- Failure analysis of pressure vessels, steam generators and similar equipment
- Sorting and identifying metal stock in a warehouse
- Testing the surface of small hollow spaces
In the box:
- 1 x main unit
- 1 x D type impact device with cable
- 1 x cleaning brush (I)
- 1 x small support ring
- 1 x manual
Note: No test blocks are included, so choose either option and buy standard test blocks separately. The D type probe suits metal thicker than 5mm; special materials need other probe types. The sensor cable is yellow or gray and is sent at random. Batteries are not included.

A: A Leeb tester fires a small impact body at the metal surface and measures how it rebounds, then converts that to a hardness value. This one shows the result as HL, HB, HRB, HRC, HRA, HV or HS.. Q: Can a Leeb tester give Rockwell hardness readings? A: This unit converts its reading to HRC (17 to 68.5) and HRB (13 to 100) as well as HRA, so you can read Rockwell scales without a bench tester. Leeb results shown in other scales are converted values.. Q: How do you use a portable hardness tester on a workpiece? A: Set the material and scale on the keypad, hold the D type impact device against a clean surface and trigger the impact. The reading and the TIMES count appear on the display, and you can average several tests.. Q: Does this hardness tester work on stainless steel, copper and aluminium? A: It has material settings for steel and cast steel and for stainless steel, and the seller lists it for stainless steel, copper and aluminium. The D type probe needs a workpiece over 5mm thick.. Q: How many readings can it store? A: It stores up to 100 groups of data. You can send results to a PC over USB with the supplied PC software..
