This digital Shore hardness tester is a handheld durometer with a three-digit numeric readout, sold as three models: LXD-A, LXD-C and LXD-D. Each reads 0 to 100 on its own Shore scale (HA, HC or HD) with 0.5 resolution on the A and D types, so one body style covers soft rubber, foam and hard plastics.
Features and benefits:
- Three models to choose from: LXD-A for medium to low hardness rubber and synthetic rubber, LXD-C for low hardness foam and sponge, LXD-D for hard rubber, hard plastic and glass
- Digital three-digit display with HOLD, ON/OFF and ZERO buttons, so the reading can be frozen and the gauge zeroed between samples
- Measuring range of 0 to 100 on each scale, with a recommended working range of 10 to 90 for every model
- Pressure needle range of 2.5mm, with a different indenter end for each model: 0.79mm diameter on LXD-A, SR2.5mm on LXD-C and SR0.1mm on LXD-D
- Compact 115 x 60 x 25mm outline, light enough to carry to the job and use on the bench or the shop floor
- Supplied in a black plastic carrying case that keeps the indenter protected in transit
- Runs on a 3V CR2032 lithium cell
Applications:
- Checking rubber and synthetic rubber parts such as seals, hoses and mats (LXD-A)
- Testing microporous shoe-sole material, foam and sponge (LXD-C)
- Testing hard rubber, hard plastic and glass items (LXD-D)
- Goods-in checks, quality control and teaching Shore hardness in school and college workshops
In the box:
Shore durometer in the model chosen in the options, plus a black plastic carrying case.
Note: The battery (3V CR2032) is not included and must be bought separately. Choose the model that matches your material: the LXD-A is for medium to low hardness, LXD-C for low hardness foam and LXD-D for high hardness. Readings are most reliable within the recommended 10 to 90 range of each scale.
Type: Digital Shore durometer. Models: LXD-A, LXD-C or LXD-D (choose in options). LXD-A range: 0 to 100HA. LXD-C range: 0 to 100HC. LXD-D range: 0 to 100HD. Resolution (A and D types): 0.5HA / 0.5HD. Recommended measuring range: 10 to 90 on each scale. Pressure needle range: 2.5mm. Indenter end, LXD-A: 0.79mm diameter. Indenter end, LXD-C: SR2.5mm. Indenter end, LXD-D: SR0.1mm. Display: Digital, three-digit numeric readout. Controls: HOLD, ON/OFF and ZERO buttons. LXD-A suited to: Medium to low hardness rubber and synthetic rubber. LXD-C suited to: Low hardness foam, sponge and microporous shoe material. LXD-D suited to: High hardness materials such as hard rubber, hard plastic and glass. Outline dimensions: 115 x 60 x 25mm (all models). Body diameter (LXD-A drawing): 56.5mm. Indenter barrel diameter: 18mm on LXD-A and LXD-D; 29mm on LXD-C. Indenter barrel length: 35.1mm. Pressure needle projection: 2.5mm. Battery: 3V CR2032 lithium (not included). Carrying case: Black plastic case supplied. Q: What is a Shore hardness tester? A: A Shore hardness tester, or durometer, presses a spring-loaded indenter into a material and shows how far it goes in as a number from 0 to 100. This digital version shows the result on a three-digit screen, with a HOLD button to freeze it.. Q: What is the difference between Shore A, C and D? A: They are different scales and indenter shapes for different materials. On this tester LXD-A suits medium to low hardness rubber, LXD-C suits low hardness foam and sponge, and LXD-D suits hard rubber, hard plastic and glass.. Q: Which model should I choose for soft rubber? A: The LXD-A reads 0 to 100HA and is made for medium to low hardness materials such as rubber and synthetic rubber. Its recommended working range is 10 to 90HA.. Q: Is the LXD-D a Rockwell hardness tester? A: No. It is a Shore D durometer with a 0 to 100HD scale, intended for hard rubber, hard plastic and glass. It does not give Rockwell values.. Q: Which battery does it use? A: A 3V CR2032 lithium cell. The battery is not included, so have one ready before first use..
