The ST335A is a handheld digital refractometer that measures the sugar concentration of a liquid on a 0 to 35% Brix scale, with a resolution of 0.1% Brix and an accuracy of ±0.2% Brix. A drop of sample goes on the prism and the large LCD shows the Brix value, the sample temperature and the refractive index together, with a reading in under 3 seconds.
Features and benefits:
- 0 to 35% Brix range with 0.1% Brix resolution - covers fruit juice, soft drinks, liquid sugar and similar sugar solutions
- Accuracy of ±0.2% Brix - tight enough for routine checks of juice, wine must and brewing worts
- 3 in 1 LCD - Brix, temperature and refractive index (1.333 to 1.426) shown at the same time
- Automatic temperature compensation from 10°C to 40°C - reduces errors caused by the sample or room temperature
- Reading in under 3 seconds - quick enough to test a row of samples without waiting
- Dust protection cover with non-slip sides - the prism stays covered between uses and the case is easy to hold and wipe clean
- Meas, Zero and power keys, battery level display and automatic shutdown - simple to operate and kind to the batteries
Applications:
- Sugar content checks on fruit juice, soft drinks and carbonated drinks
- Brix readings on wine must and beer wort in home and small-scale brewing
- Sugar content checks on fruit and crops in horticulture and growing
- Teaching and demonstration of refractive index and Brix in school and college labs
In the box:
1 x refractometer, 1 x instruction manual, 2 x dropper pipettes. Batteries are not included.
Note: Mix the liquid evenly before measuring and keep the prism clean between samples. The unit runs on 3 x 1.5V AAA batteries, which you need to supply. Operating temperature is 10°C to 40°C. This is a sugar (Brix) instrument, not a direct alcohol meter.

Package contents: 1 x refractometer, 1 x manual, 2 x dropper pipettes. Q: What is a refractometer? A: A refractometer measures how much light bends as it passes through a liquid, which relates to how much dissolved sugar the liquid holds. This digital model converts that into a Brix reading from 0 to 35% and also shows the refractive index.. Q: How do I use a digital refractometer? A: Open the cover, put a few drops of well mixed sample on the prism with the dropper, close the cover and press Meas. The Brix value, temperature and refractive index appear on the screen in under 3 seconds.. Q: How do I zero a refractometer before use? A: This model has a Zero key and automatic temperature compensation. Clean the prism, place a drop of clean water on it and press Zero before measuring samples.. Q: What is Brix and what does the reading mean? A: Brix is the sugar content of a liquid shown as a percentage. A higher Brix reading means more dissolved sugar in the sample.. Q: Can this refractometer be used for honey? A: Its range stops at 35% Brix, so it suits thinner sugar solutions such as juice, wort and syrups. Honey usually reads well above that range, so it is not intended for honey..
