This handheld salinity refractometer reads salt concentration from 0 to 28% on a sodium chloride scale, with automatic temperature compensation and a division of 0.2%. A few drops of liquid go on the prism, you look through the eyepiece against the light and read the boundary line on the scale. It is sold for aquarium seawater and salt water concentration checks.
Features and benefits:
- Measuring range 0 to 28% with a division of 0.2% and accuracy of ±0.2%: a clear scale across the whole range
- ATC (automatic temperature compensation) over 10°C to 30°C: the scale is referenced to 20°C
- Sodium chloride scale marked with a saturation point at 25%: shows how close a solution is to saturation
- Manual adjustment with the mini screwdriver supplied: set the instrument by hand when needed
- Aluminium body with a black rubber grip and a rubber eyecup: comfortable to hold and look through at the bench or tank side
- Adjust the eyepiece until the scale is clear before reading
- Option with or without a carrying box: the boxed version is marked PORTABLE REFRACTOMETER
Applications:
- Checking aquarium seawater salinity
- Salt water concentration checks
In the box:
Refractometer, portable refractometer operation manual, small adjustment screwdriver, dropper and green cleaning cloth. A carrying box is included only with the With Box option.
Note: Wipe the prism with a soft cloth before and after each sample, and use only 2 to 3 drops. The scale is set for sodium chloride solutions at 20°C, so readings of other liquids will not be true salinity.

A: A refractometer measures how much a liquid bends light and converts that into a concentration on a scale. This model has a sodium chloride scale from 0 to 28%, so it shows salt content directly.. Q: How do you use a salinity refractometer? A: Open the cover, wipe the prism with a soft cloth, place 2 to 3 drops of the solution on the prism and close the cover. Look through the eyepiece against the light, adjust until the scale is clear and read where the blue and white boundary crosses the scale.. Q: How do you adjust a refractometer? A: This one is adjusted manually with the mini screwdriver supplied. The scale is referenced to 20°C and the ATC works from 10°C to 30°C.. Q: Can I use it to test aquarium seawater? A: Yes, it is sold for aquarium seawater and salt water concentration checks on a 0 to 28% sodium chloride scale.. Q: What does ATC mean on a refractometer? A: ATC stands for automatic temperature compensation. Here it covers 10°C to 30°C, with the scale referenced to 20°C..
