- How does desoldering braid remove solder from a board?
- You lay the copper braid over the solder joint and press a hot iron on top. The braid wicks up the molten solder through capillary action, leaving the pad clean. It's handy for PCB rework and pulling solder off pads and leads.
- Which width should I pick for my work?
- It comes in 2.0mm, 2.5mm, and 3.0mm widths. Narrower braid suits fine-pitch pads and small leads, while wider braid clears bigger joints and ground planes faster. Length options of 8m and 15m let you stock up for longer jobs.
- Do I need flux or special tools to use this?
- The braid already has rosin-based, non-corrosive flux built in, so you just need a soldering iron. Set the iron in the 250 to 400C range to match your solder alloy. Extra flux can speed things up on stubborn or oxidized joints.
