- How do I choose the right width of desoldering wick for my circuit board?
- Match the wick width to the size of the solder joint or pad you are cleaning. Our 1mm to 2mm widths work best for small SMD components. For larger joints and pads, choose the 3mm or 4mm options to absorb more solder quickly.
- What is this desoldering wick made of, and do I need to add flux?
- This braid is made from high-purity, oxygen-free copper that draws in heat and solder quickly. It comes pre-coated with a rosin-based, no-clean flux to improve the wicking action. You don't need to add extra flux for normal PCB cleanup.
- What temperature should I set my soldering iron to when using this wick?
- We recommend setting your soldering iron between 260°C and 420°C depending on your solder type. The copper braid transfers heat rapidly, so work within this range to protect your board from overheating.
