- Match the wick width to the size of the solder joint or pad you are cleaning. Our 1mm to 2mm sizes work best for small surface-mount components. Use the wider 3mm to 4mm braids for larger through-hole joints and BGA pads.
- Will this copper braid work with both leaded and lead-free solder?
- Yes, this wick is compatible with both types of solder. The fine-weave copper quickly conducts heat to melt and pull up stubborn lead-free alloys. Its built-in rosin flux helps the solder flow easily into the braid.
- What are the main jobs I can do with this desoldering wick?
- You can use it to clean up messy solder bridges on circuit boards and clear out through-hole joints. It is also perfect for cleaning up pads during BGA reballing. The braid draws away molten solder quickly to protect your sensitive electronic parts from heat damage.
