How do I know which wick width to choose for my repair job?
Match the wick width to the size of the solder joint or pad you are cleaning. Our 1mm to 2mm sizes work best for small surface-mount components. Use the wider 3mm to 4mm braids for larger through-hole joints and BGA pads.
Will this copper braid work with both leaded and lead-free solder?
Yes, this wick is compatible with both types of solder. The fine-weave copper quickly conducts heat to melt and pull up stubborn lead-free alloys. Its built-in rosin flux helps the solder flow easily into the braid.
What are the main jobs I can do with this desoldering wick?
You can use it to clean up messy solder bridges on circuit boards and clear out through-hole joints. It is also perfect for cleaning up pads during BGA reballing. The braid draws away molten solder quickly to protect your sensitive electronic parts from heat damage.
