- What types of network cables and PoE standards can I test with this device?
- This tester is compatible with standard RJ45 Ethernet cables for wiremapping and length testing. It also tests fiber optic cables using the built-in Optical Power Meter and Visual Fault Locator. For Power over Ethernet, it detects IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at standards.
- What are the limits on cable length measurements and battery runtime for this tester?
- You can measure Ethernet cable lengths up to 600 meters with an accuracy of plus or minus two percent. The rechargeable 3.7-volt lithium battery provides about eight hours of continuous use on a single charge. The optical power meter measures ranges from -70 to +10 dBm.
- How does this tester help me troubleshoot network issues?
- This tool combines multiple diagnostics to find breaks, shorts, or miswired pairs in your Ethernet lines. You can trace fiber optic bends using the laser locator and measure optical power levels. It also checks if your PoE switches are delivering the right voltage.
