- What's the detection range and is it adjustable?
- This sensor has a detection range from 5cm up to 50cm. The sensitivity, which affects the distance, is adjustable using a small screw on the back of the sensor body.
- How do I choose between the NPN and PNP models?
- It depends on your control system. NPN is a 'sinking' output that switches the negative (0V) line to the load, while PNP is a 'sourcing' output that switches the positive voltage. Check your PLC or controller's input requirements to see which type you need.
- What kind of objects will this sensor detect?
- This is a diffuse reflection sensor, so it works by bouncing infrared light off an object. It detects most non-transparent objects, but performance can vary with an object's colour and surface; lighter, matte surfaces are easier to detect than dark, shiny ones.
