- What can I actually weld with this spot welder?
- It's built for joining 18650 lithium-ion cells into battery packs. People use it for custom packs, repairing power tool batteries, and small electronics. It handles nickel strip up to 0.2mm thick, so it's for light pack work, not heavy fabrication.
- How thick of nickel strip will it weld?
- It welds nickel strip up to 0.2mm thick at a peak welding current of 650A. For thinner strip, drop the power using the 12 settings. Past 0.2mm you'll likely get weak welds, so stay within that limit for solid joints.
- Does it need to be plugged in to work?
- No. It runs off an internal 5000mAh lithium polymer battery, so you can weld anywhere. You charge it through the USB Type-C port using a 5V 2A input. That makes it handy for field repairs or benches without a free outlet.
