- Is this strip made of pure nickel or is it just nickel-plated?
- This strip features a steel base with a nickel plating that is typically 2 to 5 micrometers thick. The nickel plating provides corrosion resistance to help keep your connections clean over time. It gives you a reliable balance of strength and conductivity for your projects.
- Can I use this strip for high-drain or high-current battery packs?
- This nickel-plated steel strip is best for moderate current applications. Because steel has lower electrical conductivity than pure nickel, it can overheat under very high current loads. For high-drain power tools or heavy electric vehicle draws, you may want to look at pure nickel instead.
- Do I need a spot welder to use this strip, or can I solder it?
- We recommend using a spot welder designed for battery building to attach this 0.15mm strip. While you can technically solder to nickel plating, soldering iron heat can damage your 18650 cells. Spot welding creates a fast, secure bond without overheating the battery.
