- How far from the target do I hold this tachometer?
- Hold it anywhere from 50mm to 500mm from the spinning part. You'll need to stick reflective tape on the shaft so the laser can pick up each rotation. The reading updates in about 0.8 seconds above 60 RPM.
- What's the lowest and highest RPM it can read?
- It measures from 2.5 up to 99,999 RPM. Accuracy is rated at plus or minus 0.05% plus one digit. That range covers most motors, fans, and shafts you'd check in the field.
- Does it need batteries to run?
- Yes, it runs on a single 9V battery, like a 6F22. The unit weighs about 110g without the battery installed. Keep a spare handy for longer maintenance rounds.
