- What can I actually measure with this laser tachometer?
- It reads the rotational speed of motors, shafts, fans, and pumps without touching them. You can verify lathe speeds or check motor RPM during setup and maintenance. The range runs from 2.5 up to 99,999 RPM, so it covers slow and very fast equipment.
- How close do I need to hold it to the target?
- Aim the laser at the spinning part from 50 mm to 500 mm away. The auto-zero adjustment sets your baseline so readings start accurate. For anything over 120 RPM, it samples and updates the LCD about every half second.
- Is the laser safe to use near my eyes?
- It uses a Class II laser at under 1 mW, with a 630 to 670 nm beam. That power level is low, but never look straight into the beam or point it at anyone's eyes. Keep it aimed at the rotating part you're measuring.
