The first step in choosing a sensor is matching the thermocouple type to your equipment and temperature requirements. Different types (e.g., K, J, E) have unique temperature ranges, accuracies, and environmental resistances. The type you need is determined by your process temperature and the input your controller or meter is designed to read.

K-Type is the most widely used thermocouple in industry due to its broad temperature range and affordability. Our K-Type probes cover temperatures from -50°C up to 1300°C, making them suitable for applications from general machinery monitoring to high-heat processes like furnace control and exhaust gas measurement. We also offer J-Type and PT100 options for specific equipment that requires them. Always verify compatibility with your existing instrumentation before purchasing.

Probe length and diameter are key specifications. The length, ranging from 50mm to 500mm in our catalog, must be sufficient to place the sensing tip at the exact measurement point. The probe diameter, from 1mm to 8mm, involves a trade-off: smaller diameters offer faster response times, while larger diameters provide greater mechanical strength and longer life in demanding conditions. Matching the Sensor to the Application Environment

Always verify that the sensor's temperature range and materials are appropriate for your specific application. Using a probe beyond its rated temperature, such as a 400°C sensor in a 1000°C furnace, will result in immediate failure and inaccurate data. J-Type sensors have a more restricted range and are better suited for vacuum or inert environments.
How do I ensure a new thermocouple probe will work with my temperature controller?
First, confirm your controller is configured for the same thermocouple type (e.g., K-Type). Second, check that the physical connection is compatible, whether it's a standard plug or direct wiring. How do I determine the correct probe length for my machinery?
