- Does this welding pen work with any spot welder?
- It is made to plug into DIY spot welding machines, not to weld on its own. Connection is usually a banana plug or spade terminal, which varies by model. Check that your welder's output matches the pen's connector before buying.
- What is this pen actually for?
- It welds nickel strip onto 18650 cells when you build battery packs. The automatic trigger fires the weld at consistent timing once the tips touch with enough pressure. It also suits small electronics repair and prototyping cell layouts.
- What are the electrode tips made of?
- The tips are copper alloy, roughly 1.5 mm across, set in an insulated polymer body. Copper carries the high pulse current well, with a peak capacity often in the 100 to 500 A range. The cable runs about 400 mm at roughly 10 AWG.
