Questions about this product
- Will this calibrator fit the microphone on my sound level meter?
- This unit is designed for standard 1/2-inch (13.2mm) diameter microphones, which are very common on professional sound level meters. Before you order, it's best to check the specifications of your meter to confirm its microphone size.
- How do I actually use this to calibrate my meter?
- You simply insert your meter's microphone into the calibrator's opening and switch it on. Select one of the output levels, and your sound level meter should display that decibel reading. If it doesn't, you can then adjust your meter according to its instructions until it matches the calibrator's output.
- Why does it have three different decibel levels to choose from?
- The three levels—94dB, 104dB, and 114dB—let you check your meter's accuracy at different points across its measurement range. The 94dB level is a common reference point, while the higher levels are useful for confirming the meter's linearity when measuring louder noise. The calibration frequency is fixed at 1kHz for all levels.
