- What wire sizes will this kit fit, and how much does the tubing shrink?
- This kit includes assorted tubes ranging from 4mm up to 72mm in pre-shrink diameter. Since they have a high 4:1 shrink ratio, they can shrink down to a quarter of their original size. This makes them ideal for sealing highly irregular shapes and thick cable connectors.
- What temperature do I need to use to shrink this tubing properly?
- You can start shrinking the polyolefin tubing at 70°C. However, you need to reach 125°C for the tubing to recover completely and seal. A standard heat gun works best to melt the inner adhesive layer at 90°C.
- What is the benefit of the adhesive lining inside this heat shrink?
- The adhesive melts at 90°C during the heating process and flows into any gaps. As it cools, it creates a watertight, corrosion-resistant seal over your wires. The dual-wall polyolefin construction also adds extra physical strength and strain relief.
