- You should match the wick width to the size of the solder joint you want to clean. Our widths range from 1.0 mm for tiny PCB pads up to 4.0 mm for larger joints. If the braid is too narrow, it won't hold enough solder. Too wide, and it will draw too much heat away from your iron.
- Will this copper wick work with both lead-free and leaded solders?
- Yes, this wick is fully compatible with both lead-free and leaded solders. It handles standard soldering iron temperatures ranging from 250°C to 400°C. The high-purity oxygen-free copper and integrated rosin flux ensure fast heat transfer and quick absorption for either solder type.
- Does this desoldering wick expire, and how should I store it?
- This wick has a typical shelf life of 24 months when kept sealed. To keep the integrated rosin flux fresh, store the spools in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Exposure to open air can slowly oxidize the copper and reduce its wicking efficiency over time.
