- What sizes of tubing come in this kit, and how much do they shrink?
- This 127-piece kit includes seven different diameters ranging from 2.0 mm up to 13.0 mm. They feature a 2:1 shrink ratio, meaning they will shrink to half their original diameter when heated. You get shorter 40 mm lengths for smaller wires and longer 80 mm pieces for thicker cables.
- What is the best way to shrink this tubing onto my wires?
- Slide the correctly sized tube over your wire connection before heating it. Use a heat gun or heat source that reaches at least 70°C to start the shrinking process. For a complete, tight seal, make sure the tubing reaches 110°C. Apply heat evenly along the tube to avoid uneven shrinkage or air bubbles.
- Can I use this heat shrink tubing for high-voltage or extreme-temperature applications?
- This polyolefin tubing safely handles electrical applications up to 600 volts with a dielectric strength of 15 kV/mm. It performs reliably in temperatures ranging from -55°C to 125°C. However, it only offers moderate UV resistance, so it is not ideal for prolonged outdoor exposure in direct sunlight.
