- These screws can drill through steel up to 12 gauge, which is about 2.7 millimeters thick. They are designed for light-gauge sheet metal and metal studs. Trying to use them on thicker structural steel will damage the self-drilling tip.
- Do I need to drill pilot holes first, and what bit do I use to drive them?
- You do not need to pre-drill any holes because the built-in Tek point drills its own hole. Just grab a standard Phillips #2 driver bit to install them. This one-step process saves you a lot of time on the job.
