Questions about this product

What are center drill bits used for?
They start an accurate pilot hole so your regular drill bit doesn't wander. The 60-degree tip makes a clean starter dimple right on target. Machinists also use them to center work for lathe turning.
What are these bits made of and can they cut hard metal?
They're M35 high-speed steel, hardened to about 62 to 64 HRC. That handles steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, with heat resistance up to around 600°C. The cobalt content gives longer tool life in tough material.
Will these fit a standard drill chuck or lathe?
Yes. They have straight shanks, so they grip securely in drill chucks, lathe tailstocks, and milling machines. The h6 shank tolerance keeps them running true for accurate centering.
