Questions about this product
- What can I measure with this tachometer?
- You point it at any rotating part and read the speed without touching it. It works well on motors, fans, and HVAC blowers. The range runs from 2.5 RPM up to 99999 RPM, so it covers slow shafts and fast spindles alike.
- How close do I need to be to get a reading?
- Hold it between 50 mm and 500 mm from the target for a reliable read. You also need a reflective mark on the rotating part for the photoelectric sensor to catch. Accuracy is plus or minus 0.05% plus one digit.
- Does it need batteries and does it shut off on its own?
- It runs on 3 AAA 1.5V batteries and gives about 20 hours of use without the backlight. Check the listing for whether cells are in the box. It powers off after 15 minutes idle to save the batteries.
