The mounting method is your first decision. Standard split taper bushings and QD bushings use a flanged, tapered design that clamps onto the shaft as bolts are tightened. They are common in power transmission and often feature a keyway for positive drive.
Keyless taper bushings provide an alternative interference fit without needing a keyway on the shaft. They are tightened to create high concentric pressure between the bushing, shaft, and component hub. This design is excellent for high-speed applications, precision timing, or when shafts are not keyed.

For a timing pulley, this means matching the bushing to the pulley's hub design and ensuring it works with the specified belt profile (e.g., HTD 5M) and width. For other components, verify that the outer diameter and style of the bushing fit the component's bore.
