- How much weight can one of these plasterboard fixings actually hold?
- The final load capacity depends more on the condition of your plasterboard than the fixing itself. These are intended for light to medium loads like smoke alarms, pictures, and lightweight shelving. We don't provide a specific kilogram rating as the board's integrity is the key factor.
- Do I need to drill a pilot hole before putting these in the wall?
- Yes, these are butterfly-style expansion anchors, so you need to drill a pilot hole first. When you tighten the screw, the wings on the back of the anchor spread out behind the board to create a firm grip.
- What thickness of plasterboard are these designed for?
- These fixings work best with standard 9.5mm and 12.5mm plasterboard. They need enough of a hollow void behind the board for the 'butterfly' wings to open fully and secure themselves properly.
