- What wire sizes do these solder connectors work with?
- These connectors fit wire sizes ranging from 26 down to 10 AWG. The color-coded sleeves make it easy to match your wire. White is for 26-24 AWG, red fits 22-18 AWG, blue fits 16-14 AWG, and yellow handles 12-10 AWG.
- How do I install these and what tools do I need?
- You will need a heat gun to melt the solder and shrink the tubing. Strip your wires, slide them into the connector so the copper ends overlap inside the solder ring, and apply heat. The polyolefin tubing starts shrinking at 80°C, while the solder ring melts at 138°C to create a strong electrical bond.
- Can I use these connectors in wet environments like marine applications?
- Yes, these connectors have an IP67 waterproof rating, making them perfect for marine and automotive use. The hot melt adhesive inside seals the ends when heated to keep moisture out. They also resist corrosion and chemicals while operating safely in temperatures from -55°C to 125°C.
