Torque in lb-ft equals hp times 5,252 divided by rpm. Halve the speed and you double the torque for the same power.
Where 5,252 comes from
One horsepower is 33,000 foot-pounds per minute. Torque times rotational speed gives power, and the rotation adds a factor of 2 pi per revolution. So hp = T x rpm x 2 pi / 33,000, and 33,000 divided by 2 pi is 5,252. That is the constant, and it is why torque and horsepower curves on a dyno always cross at 5,252 rpm.
In metric the equivalent is kW = T(Nm) x rpm / 9,549. To convert lb-ft to Nm multiply by 1.3558.
Full-load torque of standard motors
A motor nameplate gives horsepower and speed, not torque. This is what those combinations deliver at the shaft, which is what you need to check against a gearbox, coupling or driven machine rating.
