Selecting Blade Materials and Tooth Configurations

Choosing the correct cutting edge material directly impacts tool life and finish quality. For timber, plastics, and non-ferrous metals, a tungsten carbide tipped TCT saw blade provides clean cuts and exceptional wear resistance. If you work with abrasive masonry, ceramic, or porcelain, you need a diamond cutting disc to prevent premature blade glazing.

For general-purpose wood and soft metals like aluminum, high-speed steel (HSS) or carbon steel blades are suitable. When performing flush cuts or plunge cuts, high-carbon bi-metal multi tool blades offer the flexibility needed to prevent snapping under lateral pressure.

Sizing, Bore Diameters, and RPM Match

Always match the blade's physical dimensions and speed rating to your power tool. A standard 115mm circular saw blade or a 125mm blade must match your angle grinder or mini circular saw arbor exactly. Never mount a blade with an RPM rating lower than your tool's free-spinning speed, as this risks catastrophic disc failure.

Verify the bore diameter during selection. Many mini circular saws use a 20mm bore, while rotary tools rely on 3.2mm or 6mm shanks. Choosing a blade with a kerf width of approximately 1.8mm reduces material waste and places less strain on your tool motor.
