Actuator Style and Mechanical Approach

Select the mechanical linkage based on travel direction, mechanical clearance, and cam profile. A roller lever limit switch handles wiping action and rotary cams by converting linear movement into angular displacement without scoring contact faces. Direct plungers work when movement strikes perpendicular to the body.

For adjustable mechanical stroke lengths, a rotary adjustable roller lever arm like ME-8108 allows precise positioning along the operating arc. Horizontal roller lever and roller arc lever models manage side-approach actuation on automated tracks and indexing fixtures.

Electrical Ratings and Contact Circuitry

Match system voltage and operational current directly to the internal contact block. Logic-level control systems require low contact resistance, while solenoid coils and motor contactors require heavy-duty interruption ratings. Using an undersized switch on inductive loads causes contact welding.

• Voltage Limits: Match field supplies to ratings of 125V, 250 V AC, or low-voltage DC below 50V AC or 75V DC.

Enclosure Sealing and Environmental Fit

Operating conditions dictate housing construction. Open-frame microswitches belong inside control cabinets, operator stations, or internal machine cavities protected from fluids.

External plant equipment subject to coolant splash or particulate washdown demands sealed bodies rated to IP65 or IP67. For sliding gates and overhead doors where physical impact causes premature failure, a magnetic door switch with an NdFeB magnet offers reliable non-contact position tracking.
