How do I install these M6 inserts and how deep do they need to go?
First, drill out the damaged thread with a 6.7mm drill bit, then tap the hole. Use the installation tool to wind the insert in to a minimum depth of 9mm. Finally, use the break-off tool to remove the driving tang.
What exactly comes in this 30-piece kit, and do I need to buy anything else?
You get 30 stainless steel inserts, the installation tool, and a tang break-off tool in a compartmentalized case. You must supply your own 6.7mm drill bit, tap, and tap handle to complete the job.
What are the inserts made of, and will they rust over time?
The inserts are made from AISI 300 series austenitic stainless steel which resists wear. They also feature a passivated finish to prevent rust and chemical corrosion over time. This durable construction ensures your repaired threads hold up under heavy automotive use.
